Mounting Kits and the LCD Wall Bracket – a Guide

This year I finally got around to getting myself that LCD flat screen TV I’ve been wanting. I’d been waiting for the prices to drop to under $1500 for a 55” screen, and finally found a sale that fit my budget. And then I started to wonder where in my family room I was going to put it up. I didn’t want to use a floor stand, so that meant finding a wall mounting kit. I knew I wanted to get a kit that had everything I needed to get my new flat screen up on the wall, including the right LCD wall bracket set. I wanted to share with you some of the things that I found out during my search.

Mounting Kits

The important thing to remember about getting a mounting kit is to make sure that kit will fit your size of flat screen. You’ll want to check the size range of TV that the mount is designed to fit. You’ll also want to make to get a match between the VESA mount systems of the television and the wall kit. There’s nothing worse than getting all the parts home and spread out ready to assemble and then realize that the mount won’t hold the screen.

Changing your TV

Since TV technology is changing so fast these days, it might be a good idea to leave yourself some room to grow. When you get your TV wall mount, it is a good idea to get one that will fit up to a screen size that is somewhat larger than the TV you already have. That way, once you decide down the road to get a bigger screen, you’ll already be set to mount it. The only thing you might need is a new LCD TV bracket set, although chances are you’ll be able to reuse the ones that come with your current kit.

If you’re at the point where you already have a wall mounting system and you’re looking to upgrade your TV to a larger size, just remember to check on the VESA mount pattern of your current wall mount to see if it will be compatible with the flat screen you’re thinking about getting as an upgrade.

Seeing the flat screen of your dreams up and mounted is an immensely satisfying project. Just keep in mind these few simply things and you’ll be watching your dream screen in no time.
