Everyone seems to be buying bigger and bigger televisions these days as prices of plasma and LCD screens fall rapidly. One problem many of us have after we purchase such a large TV is that we find that we have forgotten to think about how we are going to place the television in our viewing room.

Obviously we need to get ourselves a television stand to place our new plasma screen on but finding just the right one can be tricky.

First off and in my opinion the biggest hurdle involved in the process is the fact that television stands are going to become an important piece of the furniture in your home. This won’t be a problem if you have a separate room where you can retreat to view your screen in private.

For most of us TV stands aren’t just there to hold our awesome new screen but will also have to be viewed in their own right by the whole family and any visitors to your home. Finding a television stand that suits the decor in your house is essential if you are to keep your other half happy.

You can buy television stands in such a wide range of materials these days that finding one which will fit right in shouldn’t a problem unless you have purchase a screen which is the wrong size for the intended room. You can find stainless steel, wood, plastic and glass television stands in a variety of colors so if you pay attention you will be sure to find something suitable.

Its important not just to buy the first LCD TV stand that you come across like so many of us have done in the past. We get so excited about watching our favorite movies on the new TV that we regard the stand as an afterthought. Having a great stand which is suitable for your room can turn your television into an interesting feature in its own right.

So give the job of purchasing a television stand the time it deserves and do all you can to ensure you get the right one for the job. When you get your new entertainment system set up you will be happy with results and your viewing pleasure will be increased.

Let’s talk further about the interior decoration of one’s home. It is really an involved process. It is both science and art: mostly art. TV console furniture play a key role that far too people have traditionally overlooked. How many homes have you ever been in that lacked consoles. Once a budget is set then the console shopping can begin. Check out Best Buy, Walmart, Target, furniture stores, even garage sales and online merchants. They all will have interesting TV consoles on sale. Merely by browsing through the different inventories one will start to really get a feel for what is going to work for them. It’s all about what you want, not what you think others think you should have. I know this seems trite advice but I have seen it not be followed way too many times. A television deserves a good home. Period.

In the end it is probably worthwhile to purchase a $50 TV console cabinet. They will offer the best of both worlds: low pricing and higher quality. When guests come over now they will know that you took care in designing your home entertainment system. They will be more likely to want to watch the tube with you.

Many people put far too little thought into buying their television stand and end up with something that neither suits the TV itself or the room in which it must sit.

At the same time its not unusual to find individuals who have bought a new Plasma TV and stand which is far too big for the room causing them to dwarf the rest of the furniture. Its something that would be comical if it wasn’t such an expensive and easily avoidable mistake to make. Its important to understand that sometimes you just have to bite the bullet and get a smaller TV than you want and a discrete corner TV stand to keep the wife happy.

It is understandable why so many people, usually men, end up with a TV which is too big. We have got it into our heads that bigger is always better, something that is never true. But of course we want to be the man with the biggest TV and TV Stand set up in the neighborhood along with every cable television channel under the sun. To be the friend who has the most awesome television is often a goal worth pursuing to be sure but not if it is at the expense of the comfort of your home or your marriage.

If you have managed to control yourself while perusing up the TV sets  in the showroom you’ll have bought a new TV to be proud of and your next step will be to get a television stand which will be pleasing to the eye and will allow your new screen to merge into the home environment.

If you’re not one for interior decorating them it will probably be of use to get the help of a woman when making this decision. Before you start shopping get an idea of where you’re going to sit the stand in your room.

The possibility of getting a corner TV stand may be something to consider if you don’t want to make the television the center piece of the room. This is often the case if the television is going to be situated in the main living room of the house.

A corner TV stand has the advantage of fitting snugly in any room and by getting the television out of the center of the room the space can be much more usable by the family.

Of course the disadvantages of the corner television stand is that its going to have a detrimental effect not only on the viewing angle when your watching your favorite movies but the audio reproduction will also be compromised. If you have spent a small fortune on your Audio/Visual set up then getting a corner stand will be out of the question.

To be fair though, anyone who is serious about their A/V is going to have a room solely for viewing their massive television and these people are never going to consider any option that doesn’t give them the optimum home cinema experience. For those of us with limited space and a family to think of, the corner television stand could be exactly what you are looking for to keep everyone happy.
